My new letterpress cards

lucysaysido new business cards stationery design logo design debossed matt foiling letterpress

As a lover of good design and paper, getting my business cards right was very important to me. I wanted something that captured the craft and beauty of traditional printing techniques combined with memorable, contemporary design. I also wanted cards that people wanted to touch, something very tangible.

Getting the design right took a while, because it was so difficult keeping it simple. My persistence was worth it though, and I am so pleased with how they turned out. I chose to get them printed onto 700gsm GF Smith card. The front was debossed and matt gold foiled to create a surface that people really want to feel. I love seeing people pick up my cards, one of the first things they do with them is stroke them…exactly the reaction I wanted! The back was letterpressed with grey ink and made to look like actual type, even though a plate was used.

Looking at these pictures the surface could almost be porcelain. I hope these images inspire you with your own projects.
