If you’d like to create beautiful Christmas decorations without spending too much time, this simple Paper Star project is perfect for you. With a few simple folds, cuts and a little glue you can turn our double sided Christmas Wrapping Paper into beautiful star decorations.
Whether you want to make individual ornaments for your Christmas tree, or thread them together to form a lovely garland to decorate your fireplace or festive table, these handmade stars are the perfect little project. They are also a great way to make good use of strips of wrapping paper that might be left over after you’ve wrapped your presents.
Start with a strip of paper as wide as you would like the diameter of the star, in terms of length roughly 40cm will be enough, but you could also go longer if you like. Fold your paper like an accordion.
Trim the ends of your paper to give your star edges shape. In the example below I cut the corners off and this gave the star a pointed edge, but as another option I like to cut a scallop shape at the end to make a softer edge.
Fold your paper in half and tie twine around the middle of your paper where your fold sits. If you want to hang the star as a ornament make sure your twine is long enough.
Glue the outer flat edges of the star, then open out the folds of the paper so that the glued edges line up and stick together.

If you want to make them into a garland, simply make a small hole at the edge of each star and thread ribbon or twine through the hole. They look lovely strung up across a festive fireplace.
